1) The writer is writing from NASHVILLE yet the event took place in KNOXVILLE!

2)In KNS article it states.... A campaign press release says the $1.4 million is “the largest hometown fundraiser for a statewide candidate in Tennessee history.”

OK how did we go from event which ended at 7:00 pm to counting $1,400,000.00 to contacting the media in almost an hour?

3) Brian's Blog is reporting that certain media was barred from the event.

4) Isn't Friday free paper has Pilot day?

5) No number is given to the amount of people who attended!

ALDI SUPERMARKET RECIEVES applications...

ALDI supermarkets recieved what appears to be about a good 4-5 inches of job applications today. The job is $9.50 an hr for cashier and $13.50 for shift manager... The application was a simple regular one page long. Times in Knox Co. are just that tough!!!!

Feed hungry children...not Haslam's ego!

Somewhere in Knox County, as I write this blog tonight, a child will go to bed hungry because we as an American Society, in the richest country in the world. Have failed that hungry child tonight.

With the cascading onslaught of layoffs in Knox and the dwindling supplies at food pantries this is simply a sad reality.
Yet, we have Haslam soliciting donations to run for governor! He is a multi-millionaire.
Yet as Mayor, instead of asking the public to donate to Second Harvest...he wants us to donate to him so he can have a second political career.

Yes, in theory people who donate politically feel as they are a part of something they have some 'ownership' in.
If your a millionaire asking for donations for yourself...that appears to be very egotistical.

It appears he is more worried about the food in his sky box...then the lack of food in soup kitchens

Look, politicians have great ideas on how to spend other peoples money. What his family does with their money is their business.
However, something is significantly wrong with our society if we give donations to a millionaire, while somewhere in Knox a child has a hard time sleeping...on an empty stomach.

A tale of two parties in Knox CO.

It is interesting how two political organizations are going in complete opposite directions!

First we have the thriving Knox Young Republican Party...

The Knox Young Republicans will have their annual election meeting this week and it is a great time to be a member. Under the leadership of Ben Farmer the organization has made tremendous gains this past year! Ryan Haynes became the youngest State Assembly member ever elected. That is arguably the clubs SECOND greatest accomplishment.

The organization's biggest accomplishment is their ability to captalize on the Sarah Palin effect. Politically minded females continue to join this organization in strong numbers long after the election! At some meetings this year, the females in attendance actually out numbered the men!!!!The club is an open and receptive club which is clearly evident by the diversification of their meetings.

Diversified the organization has everyone from nuclear engineers, lawyers, students, retail workers, fast food workers and ectera. Club members span the whole economic spectrum.

Building a well rounded and diversified strong organization is key to future success!

I just got back from the Concord Farragut Republican Club. I had my trusty little video camera with me and when Lockett was asked to comment on the KNS story and let me stress story KNS ran.

What we are posting here at 'political leverage' is the unfiltered and unedited video I shot. I had to pause video every 5 minutes to make it easy to upload.

At the end of the first 5 you hear someone realize I was taping, but as you see I fired the camera back up and kept rolling. What I personally love about this video is Lockett didn't realize he was being taped and when I am outed he DIDN'T CARE!

Knox County Commission recently voted unanimously to instruct MPC thatit was the sense of the Commission that landscape businesses were aninappropriate use for Agricultual zoning.Nevertheless, MPC went to BZA and once again was told about the voteof the Commission. Now it is hanging its hat on misreading some wordssaid there, and proceeding with an amendment to the Knox County ZoningOrdinance to add landscape businesses as a use permitted on review inthe Agricultural zone.MPC will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, at 5:30pm in the Small Assembly roomof the City County Bldg. It will specifically address this matter, andits normal agenda meeting in advance of its January 8th meeting,1:30pm, City-County Bldg. Main Assembly Room.I trust those who care about this matter, and about respecting theexpressed will of elected bodies, will show up at the Tuesday meeting.--Mark Harmon

Basically stated the article predicts 200,000 stores will close in 2009! I agree. I feel as if Farragut in particular will become a ghost town in the making.

"If there is any consolation, experts say that after a massive retail boom, the country may not need a Starbucks on every corner and a Foot Locker in every mall.
"We have twice as much retail space in America as what the shopper needs," said Burt Flickinger, managing director of the Strategic Resource Group "

That got me thinking...we have two Starbucks one in Turkey Bleak, one in Krogers. We got pretty much two of everything in Farragut. We even got two UPS STORES! One behind the abandoned Hollywood Video and one in Turkey Weak...oops Creek. We got two Sun Trust Banks, two Subway Restaurants, two Wendy's, how many Pilot stations I dunno, two Subway Restaurants. Had two UT sports apparel stores but it appears Hound Dog Sports closed shop.

I am not even going to go into Farraguts food dining industry. Let me sum up a great quote by the active CEO of Wendy's...'the first thing you cut out in a recession is fancy restaurants with table cloths.'

So prepare for the cascade of redundancy.
